The article “the common school” gives detailed information on how the school started in the Eighteen Century. Schools are considered the most familiar of all civic institutions. The coming together of communities in the Eighteen century to contribute resources together and employ teachers to train or teach their children was the beginning of common school. Although these schools have some issues as they encourage racism, discrimination of all types. This led to the development of public schools, which are funded by the government using tax. One of the words that I found it very interesting in this article is “Sphere”, page 16 row 20. One of the biggest importance in my opinion is literacy in children. I believe in that family members the first responsible for literacy in children. Since day one of my life my mother has played significant role to enhance my literacy. She started reading books and stories until I fall in asleep. Day after day I started my initial move when I was just two years old by holding the books and give it to my mother to read for me. By the time I started to interact with my father and my brothers and sister, that was my earliest experiences with literacy as I get to known listening and speaking. I believe my biggest accomplishment was learning how to read and write when I was introduced to the fundamental of reading and writing in Pre-K and first years of school.
