One of the biggest importance in my opinion is literacy in children. I believe in that family members the first responsible for literacy in children. Since day one of my life my mother has played significant role to enhance my literacy. She started reading books and stories until I fall in asleep. Day after day I started my initial move when I was just two years old by holding the books and give it to my mother to read for me. By the time I started to interact with my father and my brothers and sister, that was my earliest experiences with literacy as I get to known listening and speaking. I believe my biggest accomplishment was learning how to read and write when I was introduced to the fundamental of reading and writing in Pre-K and first years of school. I still remember how I was singing the alphabet constantly all day long.  My first teacher in pre-k how introduce me to the basics of reading was the foundation of my experience of reading and writing. My mother and father were giving me in my birthday books as a part of my gifts. I had a bookshelf in my room, books become my friends and part of my life. In every weekend my mother was taking me to the nearest library to checkout and read many different kinds of books and movies such as fiction and nonfiction, science fiction, action and adventure. By going forward to elementary and middle schools my teachers expressed the important of reading and exceeding my skills by the weekly reading assignments and homework. Literacy is most commonly defined as the ability to read and write, but Literacy it’s much more than that. Literacy can affect and impact our daily life in many ways. Nowadays, technology change our lifestyle and socially. To be able to read and write means being able to keep up with current events happened around, communicate effectively with other people, and increasing the awareness of knowledge of everything that is going on around the world will help increase the skills. I work on improving my literacy skills as an individual by incorporating a few new practices into my daily life. For instant, reading trade magazines and newsletters on a regular basis, listening to news in the morning to get an idea what is going on the day. Overall, reading and writing are the essential way to Literacy ant it's very important to educate our children to how holding a book is very important for living a life.

    Mohamed,
    I agree with your position that literacy is an important responsibility of all parents and families. Your stories of reading with your mother and your family from your earliest days and years, and the joys you shared through reading as a young child and throughout your schooling exemplifies your claim. I especially like your point that literacy is more than reading and writing, and the way you devote time each day to reading trade journals (a different type and kind of reading) and news.

    I agree with you about how literacy is important with children. I agree that family members are the first responsible because those are the people that the kids are growing up around. I also agree that technology is changing everything nowadays. It really is and is crazy how fast it is growing and improving. A book is definitely an important thing of life.

    i love how much you enjoyed reading from your mother! i feel that was also my favorite part about growing up. reading at such a young age is so important because it then made you excited, get in routine, and want to start reading for yourself. i just bought my nephew his first books yesterday for his birthday! i got him a animal, colors, and english/spanish book and went over the words and the correct way to pronounce them with him!

      First of all, I like the picture that is amazing which tells me how mother teach their love ones sweet babies. Mothers did their best to give relax to their child they made food, washing clothes, change the diapers, slept on pee wet bed and sleep the baby on dry side. how they feed us every time . I am also a mother of 18 months old baby and I expect from her that in my old age she will look after us. Literacy is important but with literacy knowledge we should give our emotional touch feelings and teach them how to Respect our elders and love our juniors. books are played excellent role in our teaching sometimes by graphs photos we had done our best to guide them. All the best your point of view in your Blog its amazing.
