  Racism and discrimination continue to exist in our society which often results in segregation.   The attitude of teachers toward integrating disabled students into mass education has been a major discussion over the years.   Interview feedback In an interview conducted with Marwa Kasem, the mother of Adam Sayed, a child suffering from a disability. The interview was conducted to investigate the challenges faced by the mother over the child in terms of education, enrollment into a school, and so on. It could be seen that disabilities in children are often discovered during the first 12 months of birth when the child failed to undergo activities that his peers were doing effortlessly. Another issue discovered during the interview was the late enrollment of the child in school. Adam began school at the age of 4 years old after a rigorous qualification test by the school. The boy was eventually admitted into Harry Moore school; a private special school for students with disabilities. The enrollment test conducted by the school also revealed some of the challenges facing special children as the board met several times to decide whether to accept Adam or not.   Charter schools are similar to public schools, but the major difference is that the schools have been granted operation autonomy. The schools operate under a charter or contract, but the states hold the school accountable for some terms needed to improve the performance of students and specify the conditions under which the school can operate.  This type of school began operation or established in 1992 in St Paul, Minnesota and it has played a vital role in the education system reform. Newark Regular School Board meeting on 2/24 The purpose of this report is to summarize the board meeting for the school event. The event was a memorable one.  During the meeting, the marking period was discussed, and students were charged to strive for more academic excellent. It was revealed that the school now has a total of 11,364 students from grades three through eight. All the students were recognized by the Board of Education and advised the students who are yet to be mentioned or receive any honor on any topics, should not stop demonstrating greatness in their studies because there is still more marking period. The article, ‘A Nation at Risk’ tries to provide insight into the state of education in the United States between the 1980s and 2000 and the level of mediocrity within the education system. A large economic downturn was recorded in 1982. The then United States president, Ronald Reagan express concern over the low standards in the public school system and indicated that the nation was at risk. The low standards within the public system put the nation at risk. The repercussion of this is that the confidence placed in the education system by the public was destroyed as the states began experimenting with a “free market’ system for education. The issue signaled a shift from the fight against equity to excellence.   The article, ‘A Struggle for Educational Equality, 1950-1980’, reflects the existence of segregation, discrimination, and inequality in the United States schooling system between 1950 -1980. After the postwar, the school was expected to protect children from nuclear threats, inoculate them from disease, and prepare them for a technological future. However, their experience in the United States schooling system was very bad as they were exposed to severe inequalities. Severe inequalities marked the 1950s as the average schooling for Mexican Americans was 5.4 years. Also, 17 states in the United States enacted a law that segregate African – Americans.   The article “the common school” gives detailed information on how the school started in the Eighteen Century. Schools are considered the most familiar of all civic institutions.   One of the biggest importance in my opinion is literacy in children. I believe in that family members the first responsible for literacy in children. Since day one of my life my mother has played significant role to enhance my literacy. She started reading books and stories until I fall in asleep. Day after day I started my initial move when I was just two years old by holding the books and give it to my mother to read for me. By the time I started to interact with my father and my brothers and sister, that was my earliest experiences with literacy as I get to known listening and speaking. I believe my biggest accomplishment was learning how to read and write when I was introduced to the fundamental of reading and writing in Pre-K and first years of school.
